EVENT INFORMATION:

Friday, August 19, 2011

5:15 p.m. New Student Convocation at the Devaney  Center

  • Where does tradition begin? In answer to this question, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln began welcoming new students in 1931 through a formal ceremony directed by the Chancellor. In that tradition, Chancellor Harvey Perlman will oversee that same rite of passage for the entering class of 2011. Tom Osborne and Student Government President Lane Carr will also speak. The New Student Convocation will set out the expectations and welcome you to a new community. Doors open at 4:30 be sure to be at the Devaney Center no later than 5:00. For those of you living in the residence halls the cafeteria will be open from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

8:30 p.m. Tunnel Walk

  • Walk the walk. New students are invited to become initiated into the Sea of Red by walking the walk, or as Husker fans call it, β€œthe Tunnel Walk.” Students line up outside Memorial Stadium at Gate 15 to undergo the same ritual of Husker Football legends over the decades by entering their own field of dreams. Be sure to be there by 8:20 p.m.

Saturday, August 20, 2011

1:00, 1:30, 2:00, 2:30, 3:00, and 3:30 p.m. Class Schedule Tours
